Event Description

The ACTnet Asia‑Pacific Regional TB Journal Club was held on Friday, 17 April, from 1:00–2:00 PM AEST, featuring Alvin Kuo Jing Teo and Khay Mar Aung as guest speakers.


Alvin is a Research Fellow at the University of Sydney with a background in pharmacy and public health. His work focuses on global health, tuberculosis epidemiology and control in high‑burden settings, and implementation research that supports programmes and informs policy. He has worked extensively across Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe, with his current portfolio largely centred on the Western Pacific Region.


Khay Mar is a public health professional and medical doctor from Myanmar, currently completing her PhD at the University of Sydney. She recently worked with the Research Institute of Tuberculosis/JATA, supporting the implementation of Cambodia’s third national TB prevalence survey. Her PhD research forms part of the SAPPHIRE‑TB project, which examines population‑wide TB screening in Vietnam and Cambodia.
