Event Description

About the Speaker


Dr. Chris Coulter is the Director of the Queensland Mycobacterium Reference Laboratory, a SupraNational Reference Lab and WHO Collaborating Centre in TB Bacteriology. He is a member of the Global Diagnostics Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for the World Health Organization and has previously served on WHO expert consultation groups focused on critical concentrations for drug susceptibility testing and the pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) of medicines used to treat drug-resistant TB. Dr. Coulter is also an Infectious Diseases Physician and Medical Microbiologist based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.


Session Overview


In this session, Dr. Coulter presented and explored the findings of the recently published article by Kamunkhwala Gausi and colleagues: “High-Dose Isoniazid Lacks EARLY Bactericidal Activity Against Isoniazid-resistant Tuberculosis Mediated by katG Mutations: A Randomized, Phase 2 Clinical Trial,” published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine (AJRCCM).
