About the event

This ACTnet TB Journal Club session took place on Thursday, 5 June 2025, and featured Dr Romain Ragonnet, infectious disease modeller and NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow at Monash University.

Dr Ragonnet specialises in TB modelling and has led multiple projects guiding public health policy across the Asia-Pacific. With a background in applied mathematics and a PhD from the University of Melbourne, his work bridges infectious disease modelling and real-world health strategy.

Dr Ragonnet led a discussion on the preprint: "Modelling the Impact of Case Finding for Tuberculosis: The Role of Infection Dynamics". Click here to access the paper.

The session explored whether TB models should account for the clearance of latent infection, a dynamic often excluded from modelling approaches, and how this could shift the projected impact of case-finding interventions.
